Meet Kia Lui

 

An author, a writer? Who me?

I started my career in Administrative Assistant jobs. As typewriters became computers, snail mail became faxing, emailing, and texting, as this thing called programs and the internet started taking over the world, I wanted to know more. A Bachelor’s and Masters in Information Technology, writing was no where near on my radar.

One day I was listening to Audible. Oh the number of books I listened to over and over was crazy. Erotica, fantasy, bibliographies, suspense, educational and instructional. 

I wanted more. But couldn’t find what I wanted to read about. Mature adults finding love, living life on their terms. I’m not saying these type of books don’t exist, I just couldn’t find them. Then I had this crazy idea. Why not write about what I want to read about. In 1994, I started writing small erotic fantasies. At the time they were just something to do. Never thought about being published, never thought about having others read them. I would go somewhere, this fantasy would pop into my head and I would write. I pulled out those short stories and re-read them. Wow. Back then I was. Wow. I was ahead of myself and didn't even know it. 

I figured I could write a short novel with the fantasies being a jump off. I started with a college rule notebook, 100 pages, multiple pens. I had to find the correct pen that felt ‘write’ in my hand. I had all the time in the world. That was September 2016. By February 2017 the first iteration of my book, was typed and done. It was the basic meat and bones, 300 pages, 190,000 words of a story that was buried deep in me. Well here we are today. Kia Lui. Kia Lui Media LLC.
